Bus and Truck-kun are a Japanese pop culture reference to a large vehicle coming out of nowhere and ruining your day.
We arrive early for our tour bus. Once again there's lots of other people and multiple tour buses here, but not ours. We know our tour operator this time. We know where to wait. We're fine.
Time goes by, as do other buses. One of the other guides for another group gives them a call for us after 55mins of waiting. Can we trust this person? Maybe, maybe not. They say the bus has passed, and we are not on record for a tour with our operator. Hmm.
Another couple from Texas is in the same position, and we join forces to ensure we do our tour today.
The helpful tour guide drives us to their company departure point, and right as we're getting new tickets, our tour company calls us to say they're waiting. Too bad for them, we'll get it refunded.
As we begin today's tour, we're uncertain of the schedule, the tour language, and affirm our need to not lose our phones in the cenotes (cavern lakes) and not to miss the bus departures from each location.
We're not driving very fast, and the bus speedometer doesn't appear to be working. This could be a long day.
Time will tell.
